Let's Talk About It

Why?
July 10th, 2009 9:14 PM

Why are home buyers still so reluctant to pull the trigger right now? Prices are down and probably won't drop much more, mortgage interest rates are still a bargain, but have been slowly inching up, first time buyers are running out of time to take advantage of the tax credit available...I don't understand.

I know there has to be pent up energy in the housing market. Sales have fallen dramatically in the last few years. That means there are thousands of would be buyers that have put off taking the plunge.

Come on buyers, if you have been considering a home purchase, the "good" deals that are available right now are not going to last forever.

Why not promote more good things?
July 25th, 2009 11:14 PM

Why do we have all of the media attention regarding the "Cash for Clunkers" today and hardly a word has been peeped about the first time homebuyer tax credit?

The housing market has a big impact on our economy just as the auto industry does.

Go ahead, trade that "clunker" for a brand new automobile. Try to resell it 5 years from now. Buy a home today and try to resell it 5 years from now. Which one is likely to hold more of it's value?

Message to our media; Promote what will get this economy moving and not just who puts more advertising dollars in your pocket.

I love my job
July 21st, 2009 12:23 AM

There are times in this business of real estate that I think I should just throw in the towel and go back to a real job. Then there are times like this evening when I realize why I love my job so much and why I would do it even if I were homeless, living under a bridge somewhere and had to have my clients and customer pick me up because I don't not have a car.

The past six months have been really rough for me and my wife. I have not been able to put together a sale since March. Maybe it is the economy, maybe it is because I am not the pushy salesman; I don't know why, it just hasn't happened for me. My wife is the one that has kept a roof over our heads and food on the table and I love her and really appreciate her for what she has had to put up with. All she hears from me is promises of a better time, but so far, that better time has not happened. We are three months behind on our mortgage and might become the next foreclosure statistic, we are two months behind on our car payment and I worry every morning I get up that the driveway will be empty, but tonight I was reminded of why I am sticking this out.

This week I finally had two offers accepted. One was an investor that has been trying for several months to buy some property here. We finally got one done for her...a beautiful piece of property that needs very little work and will be a gorgeous home when her contractor is done. Kristen, you snagged a good one and I thank you for your business.

The other deal we got together this week means even more to me. It is a first home for a single dad. he owns his own business; http://www.backyardblessings.com. I called him tonight to give him the good news that his offer was accepted and I could just feel the pride and excitement in his voice.

I am a 52 year old geezer and I am not afraid to tell you that I get emotional real easy. When I think about how he feels, I get tears in my eyes and it just reaffirms to me why I am doing what I am doing.

I may loose my house and automobile, but I will always keep my pride and dignity. You can never take those things away. I love what I am doing and if I ask you to come pick me up from some underpass, you will know that I am homeless, but I am not without my pride and love for this business and my customers.

Thank you all.
